  1. The tour de France actually starts in London! They cycle down to the channel and they take a ferry to France then they go around France and end up in Paris cycling down the Champs Elyeses. try this, this is my proof go to google type in 2007 tour de france go to wikipedia and scroll down there you will see a map. try this wesite http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Tour_...

  2. It usely starts in France althought it has sometimes started in some others countries. It is mainly in France, there just could be one or two races out of France. It always finish in Paris, on the Champs Elysees for several rounds, and always (at 99,9%) goes by the two biggest mountain chains (not sure about the term): the Alpes ad the Pyrénées.

  3. Yes, it's a French race, so it's mainly in France, with occasionally a stage or two in a neighboring country. It usually starts in France too, but last year it started in London to celebrate the centennial of the 'Entente Cordiale' (peace/friendship agreement between Britain and France). It always finishes on the Champs-Elysées in Paris (at least since 1975).

This year it will start in Brittany, a western region of France, and according to the map it looks like there will be a stage in Italy. Click on the link and watch the video, it's really cool!

  4. Usually but not always. The tour organizers want to include surrounding nations and sometimes the Tour starts for example in Belgium, or at least passes there.
