  1. This is just my opinion...when a plane gets high up, the air pressure is lower - obviously it's higher than it would be outside the plane, but it's lower than it would be if the plane was on the ground. If you have some air/gas trapped inside something when the plane takes off, that air/gas will want to expand as the pressure around it drops. As an experiment, take a plastic bottle up on a plane. Make sure the lid seals totally. When you get up high, take the lid off and there will be a 'hiss' as the air forces its way out. Put the lid back on tightly, and when you land, the bottle will have partly collapsed.

So - I reckon that we all have a bit of gas in our intestines all the time. When we get up high on a plane, the gas expands and so we get bloated and f**t! On long distance flights, the plane usually goes higher, so I guess the problem would be worse.

    That's my guess!

  2. TSA staff for me causes eye rolling, heavy sighs and tongue biting    :)

  3. Here are a few possibilities:

When you travel you tend to limit water intake because there is not always a bathroom close, this causes the waste in your bowels to become harder thus trapping air.

When you are traveling you tend to not be as active which can also cause gas to build up.

You may have a different diet when you travel and changes in the diet can produce more gas.

  4. 1) Airline food

    2) Gases come out of solution at lower pressures on planes

    3) Mini Pretzels. Avoid.

    4) TSA staff make you f**t.
