I have a tenant who had his utility gas turned off due to non payment. It has been shut off for several weeks and I am worried that lack of gas supply could damage the gas appliances (stove, water heater, furnace, dryer).

  1. I cannot imagine why that would do harm.. after all they are not supplied with gas while they are still in the box.

  2. If the water heater and furnace are in a basement humidity will take an effect on them if kept shut off for a long period of time  causing  rust on the furnace  water heater and dryer .

  3. No.

  4. I have never heard of any problem with appliances associated with turning off the gas.  You might want to be there when it is turned back on to insure that pilot lights get lit correctly.
