Question:

Does two spiders constitute an 'infestation'?

We've found two brown recluse spiders in our home over the past few weeks. Someone told me I needed to bomb the entire house because it's an infestation. I opted for clearing out all the cabinets, cleaning and using a natural spider repellent. She's horrified that I'm 'taking chances' with the health of my family.

So, who would consider it an infestation, and where (in your mind) does the line cross between being safe by not inundating ourselves with poison and being safe by not exposing ourselves to fiddlebacks?

  1. I didnt think those spiders went in your home but I did get a lot of furry brown spiders in our house and had it bombed. If you are worried about the bombs then i would have a bug killer dude, heh, come and spray all around your house to try to keep them from coming in. If you are more worried about the spiders then have them spray inside! then you can return in a few hours instead of the day it takes for a bomb or tenting.

In my opinion seeing just two isnt an infestation but if you see a couple more i would be worried.
