I'm a 15 year old boy and I put my hair tied back when I'm working and canoeing/doing physical activities. I dont do it for apearance, but my hair is very long and a curly mess, haha, and I was wondering does tying it back do any damage? it is just very loose with a hair elastic just under the bump on the back of your head, and it is just the main body of my hair.

this is my first question, answers much apreciated.

  1. I think no matter how the ponytail is secured, it's bad for your hair, I used to wear mine back all the time, but have stopped and the breaking has stopped too..or it could be the stress in my life..hmmm

    congrats on your first Q

  2. i have the same problem, but from experience itdoes damage your hair and can cause hair loss! so try not to have to put your hair back as much even though it is loose, it still isnt the way your hair naturally is pulled but i understand it is for your physical activities but try not to ALL the time. I hope this helps if not i am sorry =]

  3. My hair is falling out and I'm pretty sure it's from wearing it back. Be careful.
