  1. No. The US Dollar does not double.

$1.00 USD = 0.647329 EUR or .65 cents in EUR

    $5.00 USD = 3.23820 EUR or $3.20 in EUR

    $50.00 USD = 32.3754 EUR or $32.40 in EUR

    $100.00 USD = 64.7467 EUR or $64.80 in EUR

    $500.00 USD = 323.705 EUR or $323.70 in EUR

So if you were to bring for example $500 USD to France, in EUR that would only be equivalent to just $323.70. Europe is expensive. So you can see there is a big difference. You'll at least want to bring $1,000.00 in USD which equates to 648.161 EUR or $648.15 in USD, more or less depending on how long your planning on being in Paris. Of course this doesn't include air fare. Have fun :).

  2. use the currency converter

US currency is actually lesser than the euro!

  3. there are online currency conversions.

    try Oanda.com

put how much money you'll bring in US dollars in the first box, and in the second select Euro's.  since that's the currency of France.

i believe the translation is something like, 2 dollars = 1 euro.  give or take.  the real question is... how much do things cost in france?  and that i don't know.  check travel sites.  i think a meal at mcdonalds in france is like 4 or 5 euros.  which is like 9 or 10 US dollars.  keep in mind the US dollar is currently pretty low...

  4. You will find that your money is worth less.

You will get about 60 Eurocent for each dollar, but you will spend them faster than you would your dollars.

In short, bring twice what you would expect to use in the USA, and your airfare on top of that, and you will have nearly enough for a holiday in Europe.

You will most likely use a cheaper kind of lodgings, like hostels, making up for the rest of the difference.

Paris is about the most expensive place in Europe at this time, you might even need 3 times as much as in most of the USA. (Like going to New York is more expensive than going to a small town in your own state.)
