Does unplugging your DSL modem really change your IP address?

Yeah. That's my question. XD

My stupid cousin got on this site and made multiple accounts, even thought it says not to -_- and now I'm blocked. TT_TT

I figured a different IP address might help. XD

  1. With DSL you only need to log off ad back on to change your ip


  2. It depends on your internet provider. A lot of them are assigning a static IP address, if yours has done that then that means no matter how many times you unplug the modem it stays the same.  

  3. Not sure what the first part has to do with the IP question but, unless you've got a fixed IP with your ISP (internet service provider), reconnecting will assign a new address.

    Each ISP has a range of addresses (or a 'pool' or block range) that they can draw on to use for every customer.  Disconnecting resets the address from that 'pool'.

  4. NO.Your ISP gave you a unique IP address and it can't be changed even if you will unplugged it for too long. They used that IP address and only them can change it.
