  1. Female Budgies tend to be the dominate s*x in Budgies, so you may need to put in extra effort to tame her, that way you can handle both them and decrease the chances that he will forget you, and bond with her.

Since the female is not tame, I expect you got her from a pet store, in which case you need to keep her in a seperate room from the male and any other birds you may have for 30 days. She could have a sickness that can be spread to your male.  Pet store birds are notorious for carrying diseases, some of which can even be transferred to humans, like psittacosis.

Also, since females tend to be more dominant, in a month, when you deem your female safe & healthy to be with your male, you will want to add an extra food dish and water dish to the cage.  Somtimes females will not let other birds in their cage eat, especially if the cage is small.

How big is your cage? Often times, this female aggression can be reduced by offering more space.  And usually, problems occur with Budgies when they do not have enough space in their cage for multiple birds to begin with.  For two Budgies, your cage should be at LEAST: 18"L x 30"W x 18"h

This is a good cage for two Budgies:

But I personally would never go smaller than:

While it is true that some birds will end up bonding more to the newer bird, many times the owner just needs to spend more time with both birds, together & seperately, in order to keep up that relationship.

  2. Hello

Well, your new female budgie will get along well and if not she will end up booting him of the perch and food.

they wil not mate unless there are matirials to mate in there.

your male may loose abit of tame ness, but still be the same, just keep teaching him to be tame and you will be fine.

  3. yes

  4. Your female budgie will probably not get tame because budgies need to be on their own to be tamed, other wise it is very hard to tame them. Your male may also become less tame as he also has another budgie to copy from. Tame budgies should ideally be kept on their own to stay tame and affectionate to you.

You should introduce them slowly. Put them in separate cages but in the same room, and each day move them closer together. After about a week put them into the same cage for a little while maybe half and hour then each day increase it until they are in the same cage all the time but do it slowly (increase by about 10 mins each day. If you find after a few days they are getting along really well then it should be ok to move them in together permanently. Your male may be a little aggressive at first as the new budgie has come into his territory (your house). He may chase her away from the food and around the cage but it should settle down.
