Does using *67 really hide your caller ID?

And if it does, if they *69 you, will it tell them who called?

Yes it really hides your phone number, with an important exception. It will not hide your number if you're making a toll-free call to an 800, 877, etc. number. Because the recipient pays for those calls, they get to see your number regardless.
