I would like to use the Annual Credit Report site, which allows you to view a copy of your credit report every 12 months for free, to see what my credit score is. Does it count against me in any way? Does it require a subscription?

  1. It does not, it is your right to view your credit reports.

  2. No.  When you or an employer orders your report, the inquiry is added to your file, but the inquiry will not appear to creditors or potential creditors.

  3. NO, by law you are allow ONE FREE copy of your credit report from each of the three major bureau's. using annualcreditreport.com will not count against you. It may appear on your credit report you see, but when ever am employer or a lender view it they wont see it

  4. A person has a right to a free credit report once a year from each of the three credit reporting agencies. Annualcreditreport.com takes you to each agency's website to obtain your free report. A credit inquiry made by yourself does not show up as an inquiry and will not effect your credit report.

  5. No, your score will not be damaged by pulling your own report. Every consumer is entitled to one free credit report per year from the three major credit reporting bureaus (TransUnion, Equifax and Experian). You do not have to sign up for anything. The site allows you to access your report from each site without obligation. I know that Experian offers you to create a username and password to log back in and see your report at a later date (they will keep it active for 30 days), but if you prefer, you can print it off and be on your way.

And just an FYI- the free credit report does NOT include your score. If you want to see that, you have to pay a small fee. Each bureau has their own price, but I don't think any of them charge more than $9 for it.
