Question:

Does using Apache in windows server 2003 defeat the whole purpose of running server 2003?

ya so basically thats my question, iis6 isnt really working for me and im used to using apache, i was just wondering if using that would take away the performance and maximum connections you get with iis6

  1. No the maximum connections limit is built into the OS itself, not just IIS.  Windows XP has a concurrent connection limit of 25.  Windows 2003 Server has quite a bit more.  Apache's limit of connections doesn't interfere with Windows 2003 limit at all.  I have both IIS and Apache running on my Windows 2003 box serving different domain names entirely.  I find that Apache does run a little bit better than IIS.
