Does using the computer give you permanent eye damage?

If so, how can i reduce or prevent damage. I already have my laptop on the lowest brightness sighting?

  1. There is no proof that computers can do anything to the eyes except cause eyestrain...which is just a temporary discomfort.

    Just remember to take breaks often to look farther away, to give your eyes a chance to refocus at longer distances.

    I've been on a computer 6 - 8 hours everyday for the last 10 years, and my eyes are fine.


  2. No. But it does cause eye fatigue. Take regular breaks from the computer screen throughout the day. Also use a glare filter on your screen.

  3. I have been told by optometrists that yes computers can put strain on your eyes. Don't use a high resolution screen. Try to keep it to 1024x768 at the most.
