obi wan commented he would become more powerful, therefore becoming more powerful could mean many different things depending upon how the reader/watcher interpets this action.

Seeing as Obi kinda allowed Darth to slice his head off, it was more self-sacrifice, than being killed.

But Darth would have tried to kill him no matter what, so yes.

Also, Darth was like 15 years younger than Obi, pluss more adept in Force, so Darth=pwnage!

Yer in a New Hope, Ben Kenobi is holding off Darth Vader so Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2D2, C3P0 and Princess Leia can escape to the Millennium falcon from rescuing Princess Leia.

When they are in the main landing dock hall Kenobi lays down his lightsaber and sacrifices his life so that Luke and the rest will have the time in the distraction to board the ship and fly off without Vader been able to stop them.

Yes and no here are my points:

When vader kills obi-wan he dissapears in thin air

but when any of the other guys are killed the dead bodys litter the floor!?

Maybe obiwan went into hiding by dissaperating and making it look like he is dead... probably not.

If he was killed it was in episode IV
