  1. Maybe you are allergic to it.  My mother in law was out for 10 mins and then wide awake.  My daughter was also sent hyperactive as a baby when she was given it before an operation.

  2. No, but it is highly addictive, and now considered a poor choice for anxiety management. The risks outweigh the benefits for this drug, you can become addicted to Valium in just 4 days. Avoid like the plague my friend!

If your just taking this for anxiety/stress etc then consider CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) it has a 70% sucess rate and will help you both long term and short term. A good GP would not prescribe this for anxiety managment.

  3. No......Valium has sedative qualities..

  4. valium is a depressant

  5. It could.  Sometimes when you start taking valium or any other anxiety tranquilizer it makes you very sleepy, but keeps your mind awake.  It is a sedative, but I had that problem when I started taking lorazepam (another type of benzo).  If you are prescribed it and are supposed to take it, that will change in time.

A side-effect is insomnia, but that side-effect tends to go away.

  6. It can happen, I have seen supposed tranquilisers have precisely the opposite effect.

If you took it on a full stomach it wouldn't be so easily absorbed.

It is addictive, you can develop a tolerance.

After as little as 2 weeks taking it regularly withdrawal symptoms are unpleasant.

  7. Not usually.

  8. It usually relaxes people!
