In this apparatus, the vapor pressure of water at 20C is 17.45 mmHg. If the volume of the water vapor above liquid water is decreased by 1/2, what will be the new vapor pressure? Will it change at all? (Temperature does not change.)

  1. No, the vapor pressure won't change.  The equilibrium vapor pressure when both the liquid and the vapor are present depends on temperature, but not on volume.
