Does vegetable oil work as a fuel for deisel engines?

i heard and researched a reliable source which states it can work when purified! what do u think? source?

This has been used for years. In fact I read about this man that collected the used cooking oil from fast food places...he screened it and mixed it with some diesel to burn in his car. All was fine...until the Feds caught him and charged him for avoiding the states fuel tax...he had to pay over $5,000 in fuel tax for using cooking oil. Some days you just can't win.

Vegetable oil can indeed be used in diesel engines. As a matter of fact, when Rudolf Diesel demonstrated his new engine in 1893, it was running on peanut oil.

Modifications need to be made to existing road vehicle which allow the motor to safely run on vegetable oil, such as ensuring a way to heat the oil so it flows normally, but once these are done, the motor will run quite happily. A plus is that your exhaust will smell like whatever was cooked in the oil (for example, french fries).

Well for one thing they keep u go easy in the toilette since they are full of vitamins!!! in  regard making diesel from it

I've got vegetable oil in my car now.  Been running on it for years now.  You have to either make some minor inexpensive adjustments to your diesel engine to run on straight vegetable oil or make some minor adjustments to the vegetable oil (bio diesel).  This information is all over on the web.

Sure does. A friend's brother has a Mercedes he rigged up to run on used veg. oil. It gets filtered and preheated before getting to the engine. He can also switch back to diesel at any time or if he runs out of oil.
