Does vin number need to be on side of truck when going outta state?

owner operator works in the state of maine getting ready to travel outta state i understand that my dot number and my iccmc number but do i need any other info like vin or gross weight?

anything you think i might need to know is welcomed

  1. No I have never heard of this before, just make sure that the VIN's can be read clearly and that they match your insurance and registration............

To my knowledge,  only  Colorado will require the VIN on the right side of a tractor.    They enter this in the computer whenever you cross a scale.    The first time you go into the state in a truck,  you will be required to pull to the side and take the registration inside to have it entered.   Usually,  after the first day,  you will not have to go in again except for permit checks or to verify new registration.

  3. It depends on the state. There are a couple of ststes out west where it is required. No states east of the rocky mountains require it. I only run east states, so I can't tell you exactly which ones. Also Kentucky requires a KY PUCO number to be displayed if picking up or delivering in KY. And as you might guess there is a seperate KY tax to go along with it.
