Question:

Does visa insure things that were purchased on credit, and will they replace stolen items?

I had a bunch of stuff stolen recently when I was on vacation, including a very expensive camera that I'd bought using my visa a few months ago. A friend told me that when something is purchased using a visa, there's some sort of insurance on it to replace it if it is stolen...is this true? It seems far fetched to me, and I don't want to call visa and sound like an idiot of it's not!

  1. Some credit card companies offer different kinds of protection.  It's not directly from Visa.  You need to call the bank you got your credit card from and ask them if it is something they offer.

    Good luck.

  2. Some credit cards have the option of replacing the item bought using that credit card. You have to check the package sent to you with that credit card. You can also call them and get info from the card issuing bank.

  3. Not only visa but all of the credit card issuers never replace stolen items!
