Does volunteer work help with resumes

so me and my friend are 16 yrs old and trying to find jobs to get some cash, but we dont have any experience and he tells me we have to find volunteer work to get experience and make our resume look interesting so someone can hire us and he shows me some links on volunteermatch.org and its just a bunch of community help with enviroment and forest.

so does volunteer work help with resumes or experience that is required for real paying jobs.

  1. YES! The last two jobs I got were jobs I got because of my volunteer experience.

    Volunteering and community service is one of the criteria viewed on college entrance exams also.

    I was a volunteer at our local animal control and at a Humane Society and went on to become a police dog trainer for the state.

    Remember volunteering is job experience even if you are not receiving a paycheck, it is very valuable!
