Does walgreens certiy pharmacy technicianS'?

i know walgreens train there own pharmacy technicians, but do they certiy to you to work anywhere as a pharmacy tech? i mean will i be able to go to a hospital and or work anywhere besides wlagreens? or will i be only able to work at other walgreens'

  1. They want you to take and pass the PTCE.  The certification is national.  It won't exactly help you get a job.


  2. to be certified you need to take the national certification test (which is hard, you're going to want to have to actual schooling behind you) walgreen's cannot certify you. but not all pharmacies and hospitals demand certification, it depends on their policy.

  3. Walgreens policy is that all techs should be nationally certified, this shows there commitment to to quality. Most store managers prefer you already be certified with some experience before you get hired.  Others will hire anyone and train them depending on if the pharmacy manager oks it. if so they will train you and after you work i think 1000 hrs you have to take the national tech certification test and walgreens will reimburse you if you pass. Then you get a raise
