Does walking 2 miles a day slim and tone your legs, arms,and abs?

Is it a total body workout? my mom wants to get slimmer and she has nine months to slim up before she goes on a cruise with my dad(yes!!! home alone!)

  1. walking is good its not hard on your body. she can try using wiegths for her arms. or she can try zumba. its great


  2. It is good for the whole body in my experience. It is not strenuous, if one walks at a sane pace. It burns calories, and that has a beneficial effect upon the whole body. One can vary it to work some bodyparts even better. After your mother has walked a few weeks, she can lift her knees a bit higher than usual, and that works the abdominals more. Swing the arms vigorously as you walk, and that helps them. Kyojin used to run 6 miles every other day, and Miyuki joined him when they met. They do other exercises, but walking is good. Your mother can take long walks regularly at her pace and see how it goes. If she wants to tone up even more, she can do some calisthenics. Miyuki is a dancer, so she stays trim at 5'-0.5", 97 lbs. usually.  

  3. My Doctor told me that speed walking for 15 Min's twice helps alot.
