Does washing clothes inside out get them as clean?

Yes.  They are submersed in soap and water.

Of course it does.  It prevents fading too.  If I line dry things outside I always make sure they are inside out to prevent the sun/air from fading them.

One thing turning clothes inside out does do is delay the fading process (dark clothes).

yes it does. in fact, when i have screenprinted t-shirts i always wash them inside out to reduce wear on the ink and hang them up to "drip-dry."  rodger

Yes, same either way, but inside out will help eliminate pilling on shirts and fading and damage to screen printed items.
