  1. It certainly can.  The surfactants and other ingredients in most detergents work much better in warm or hot water.  Whether the difference is worth the cost of heating the water is for you to decide.  I wash most things in warm.

  2. you bet. soap and oils are far more soluble in hat water. like washing dishes in hot or cold water.

  3. no

  4. It does make a difference, I usually only do sheets and underwear in hot.

  5. White is fresh co-lour but another is diff rent. so white cloth wash hot water and another to cold.

  6. Yes, I noticed that when I was washing in hot water with bleach it was eating my white clothes up. Now I wash my clothes in cold water and my white clothes don't deteriorate anymore.

  7. Here is a question to a question.....

Why would they have the option of changing the water temperature from cold to warm to hot on a washing machine if it made no difference....

Cold water doesnt shrink clothes or take the color out

    Warm might do those things

Hot will shrink and take color out, but will clean any clothes better...

This should definitely be the best answer....

  8. Not if you have a machine that is only a cold water fill machine, and as the program goes on it heats up to the correct temperature for the fabric that is in the wash that is set on the correct program for that particular fabric, i would only do a hot wash on whites that are suited for a hot wash, such as cotton, cold water is better to get stains out, as hot water sets the stain, then it is hard to get out.

  9. Yes, it does.

    Especially if you're using bleach.

The hotter the water the more active the bleach is.

Oh, and it can wear down the material faster, especially if it's cotton.

  10. Definitely, that's why a detergent that works well in cold water has to be specially designed.    Warm water dissolves dirt easier than cold.

If you're trying to save energy costs, use a detergent for cold water and a cap of bleach to keep those bright whites the way you like.

  11. It does not make a difference.  I ran out of propane recently and had to wash my whites in cold water with bleach.  They came out just as clean.

  12. I don't really think it does.  I wash everything in cold.

  13. yes it does, especially if you trying to whiten your whites. I would still use a color safe bleach if you are, straight bleach sometime has a tendency to yellow articles of clothing. if you are using straight belch on your white add the bleach to the water let it mix thoroughly and then ad your whites. normal white that don't need a bleaching can be washed in warm with normal detergent. do not add fabric softener directly on the clothing or sheets you could get staining
