Does wave pomade expire?

Question

I just found my old wave pomade (sportin' waves) and it says 2002 on the bottom.So can i still use it?

*It kind of smell funny and the grease is a little watery,but not alot just a little.

The ingredients have separated, which is a clear indicator that the pomade is no longer useful.  It's like nail polish: if you can see individual components of the cream, it's too old to use.  Anything that doesn't look right or smell right isn't going to work right.
