  1. Getting dentures is a big step and requires a lot of patience. You will experience a whole range of feelings and gagging is one of them initially. Your dentist will  be making some adjustments to your dentures in small increments until they fit just right.

Everything about wearing dentures is different from having natural teeth. They will feel bulky at first and you will be sure everyone is looking at you and that everyone knows you have false teeth.

Stay positive and try to maintain a sense of humor, take notes on your experiences and share them with your dentist so they know what you are doing.

Feel free to contact me off the board if you wish.

  2. You will probably experience some slight problems with gagging.  If you do, just take it easy wearing them for just short periods of time until you build up a tolerance [and you WILL build up a tolerance]. Your doc should give you information about how to use your new teeth correctly as they are NOTHING like what you are replacing.  You are now, for all practical purposes a dental cripple. Good luck!
