Does weather slow down texting?

i have a friend who lives in the northeast where the snow and weather is bad....i live in the south...texas to be exact and my messages get to him quick but his either dont get to me...or are REALLY late. is weather the cause? or what are some other causes....because after like 4 or 5 hours it goes back to normal

  1. weather can slow down a lot of things, so that could be it.


  2. excessive heat or cold can affect electronics...absolutely!

    Since most text is sent from wireless devices like cell phones, weather will play a factor in lost bars, and transmission/ reception of most any wireless signal.

  4. If phone company/ISP uses satellite dishes rain, snow, and even strong winds can affect transmission/reception. Just like dish network losing signal during heavy rain etc. Even sun spots and high sun coronal activity can cause trouble with a satellites ability to operate.

  5. We've had this problem.  I've talked to our cell provider.  They say that a weaker signal strength could interfere with sending texts. If you are in a storm, it is possible the storm could affect your signal, resulting in problems texting.
