Does weight change your menstrual cycle?

for me, the slimmer i am the more regular my periods are. when i gain weight, they become more irregular and sometimes i don't ovulate.

So, have your periods changed according to how much you weigh? please

  1. Yeah, it definetly does. I really hate that, but it does, and its totally normal.


  2. Yes. Mine was the opposite to you though. The slimmer I was the lighter my period. i was 5 ft 8 in and 108lbs I'm now 135lbs. I suppose it just depends on your genetic make up.

  4. Yes, definitely! From a year ago to this year in February I gained around 25 lbs and my period wouldn't come for half a year! Finally, I took some pills(prescribed) for my cycle to start which it did, and I started working out, went down 15 lbs, now I'm around 130 at 5'3, and my period did come every month.

  5. I have gained a lot of weight since I first started getting my period at 12. It's still every 28 days like clockwork and it still lasts 5 days. The past couple of periods have been heavier/shorter than usual, but I did just have a baby four months ago.

    But excess weight can indeed cause irregular periods.

  6. YES YES N YES....LOL...that is something i hate.....n it was amazing how regular i got the moment i lost weight!
