  1. Yes they do burn calories.  Actually it is a little more efficient than doing cardio because it is going to increase your RMR (resting metabolic rate) while you are not exercising.  As long as your muscles are being broken down you body will continuously burn calories to try and repair those muscles.  When you do a cardo workout you RMR returns back to normal shortly after your workout is done.  You should always include weight training with any type of exercise routine.

  3. absolutely... not at the rate cardio does but it builds muscle which destroys fat.  do all that with some cardio and you will be doing great

  4. h**l yeah! Breathing and Sitting burns calories, and of course this is a little more intense so yes you'll certainly be burning calories but not at like a cardio pace of course. Burning calories really isn't the main focus of these excerises though, it's the muscle building =].
