  1. it will make your wing faster

  2. umm make you a heck lot stronger!

  3. NO!!! Only if you train like a Bodybuilder or Powerlifter then yes, it will!  When I first began boxing I didnt hit the weights till I got the basics down. Speed, agility, balance and so on. After about 4 months I began lifting again. But only once exercise per body part and moderate to light weights. I only went heavy on Legs and back once every 2 weeks.

  4. If your weight lifting to build muscle, then it will slow you down. just compare the speed of heavyweights to that of lightweights. you can improve your speed by doing sprints, skipping, speedball etc

  5. Depends on how you train, if you train long & fast and explosive you become fast & explosive longer.  EX: Manny Pacquiao

If you train to pace yourself, you become slow and more predictable to your opponent. You might have power, but what good does that do if you cant  catch your opponent.  EX: Majority of the UFC, MMA, WEC, UPC, ABC, MCI, and etc..

  6. First of all, 20lbs is too much weight.  If you had say 2lbs weights in each hand you could shadow box for 10 to 20 minutes each workout.  This will increase your hand speed w/o risking injury to your joints.

  7. ya but you can get you speed back up and even go faster

  8. There is no prof that weight lifting will slow you down. Most boxers don,t use weights well I should take that back most boxers before 1980 did not use weights now I would say that 80% of boxers use some sort of weight traing to get in shape. I never used a weight in my life to train to fight could it have helped I don,t think so that is just my opnion

  9. You've got to keep your muscles firing fast so if you lift weights try and go for explosive moves that mimic what you would do in the ring.  Concentrate on functional weight training which focuses on real life movements rather than isolation movements (which is what bodybuilders concentrate on).  The good old medicine ball is great.  Most modern boxers work some kind of weight training into their work-outs.

  10. remeber its better to fight like the smaller guy then the big one
