  1. Only somewhat.  While you need to stay hydrated and have an overall decent diet (and/or continue to take your prenatal vitamin), the particular foods you eat do not get passed along directly to your baby.  If there is a history of allergies in your family, then you may wish to avoid those foods.  However, your body will be capable of producing milk suitable for your baby even if your diet is subpar.  (But take care of yourself and try to fit in some proteins and other good things!)

  2. Yes what you eat does Affect your breast milk.  You are giving your baby empty calories, you need to eat healthful, nutritious meals not just toast and cereal.  If that's all you intend to eat I suggest you start feeding your baby formula.

  3. No, but the nutrients are still leaving your body and going to the milk. So you need to eat better or else you will hurt yourself.

  4. Yes it does. Bananas will make your breast milk to taste sweet like bananas and spicy food will make it bitter or spicy to your baby.

  5. These answers are mostly myth and nonsense. For some reliable info on what you eat and your milk, see http://kellymom.com/nutrition/mom/index....

  6. Do you only breastfeed or do you use formula too? If you only breatsfeed then you need to make sure you are consuming only healthy stuff,. If you don't feel very hungry then try drinking more juice & take a multi-vitamin. Your baby depends on the nutrients that are in your milk.

  7. wow the other answers sound kind of harst. Breast milk is THE perfect food for your baby. Lack of hydration is the biggest enemy to milk production, so be sure you drink lots of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.

You may just feel like cereal and toast, because you are probably tired all the time and maybe there is no other prepared food to eat. Try to eat a balanced diet. I found, that when my baby was young and feeding on demand (around the clock), it was helpful to have prepared foods around, such as pre-sliced cheese, grapes, yogurt/yogurt drinks, baby carrotts, etc.

Good luck to you.. the early days are EXHAUSTING,  but you get into a good routine after a while.
