In my experience, no, but then I don't knock back the stuff straight out of a pint glass.

Maybe you coincidentally picked up a bug while you were out drinking or earlier in the day?

It can.  The alcohol can dissolve the mucus lining in your throat, which makes it feel raw whenever you swallow anything.

However, it could also be that you've just gotten sick.  One of the many side effects of alcohol is that it increases the risk of exposure to contagious germs.
