it goes on the inside I dont know why but it may just hold up better from like rain snow hail and wind.

Inside. You can't touch the windows really. It is very easy to nick them. My seat belt bumped my window when I took it off and scraped the tint. If it were on the outside, the tint would get destroyed.

if you live in the north east, you wouldn't want to scrape your windows with tint on the out side!
