Does windows live mail work with active sync?

i just installed activesync onto my computer so i can backup the contacts on my moto q. it says i have to have microsoft outlook installed on my computer in order to do that. will it work if i just download windows live mail for free?

I have Windows Live Mail and Active Sync and sadly they do not talk to each other. But Outlook Express will communicate with Active Sync and is also free.

Activesync will not backup your contacts using outlook express

You must have Microsoft office outlook 2003 or 2007.

Windows live only adds email contacts from your email account.

Your best bet is get other pim backup software like this
