Does windows movie maker accept mini dv format?

I am about to buy a digital camcorder to make videos on movie maker. does movie maker accept the format mini dv from a camcorder? or could you please tell me what formats of camcorder videos movie maker accepts? or what type of camcorder format to buy for it? thanks everyone! :D

  1. Iridflare is right...

    Be aware that in order to transfer/import DV from that miniDV tape based camcorder, you need to connect the camcorder's DV port to your computer's firewire 400 port using a firewire cable... If your computer does not have a firewire port, adding one is typically easy - but we don't know which computer you have, so it is impossible to know for sure.

    USB will not work.

    if yoou want to use windows movie maker, minidv is the best camera you can get

    you plug the camera into the computer, click capture from device and select the videos you want on the computer

  3. MiniDV is perfect for WMM!  It's the best format for editing and the one the vast majority of editors handle best.
