Question:

Does wine produce a "different kind" of intoxication, or reaction? And, how/why?

I don't consume any type of alcohol often, but:

Every time I drink wine I find myself more giggly, giddy, social, like a happy euphoric semi-drunken state.

Vodka makes me simply drunk - a little louder than normal, hyper.

Tequila makes me pass out and forget the entire night.

Never been drunk off of anything else.

So, is it just in my mind or does different alcohol affect one differently?

What causes this?

Wine is my favourite alcoholic beverage. <3 Having some tomorrow night.

  1. Hi Pointless Name,

Beer has an alcohol content of between 5% and 7%.

Wine has 12% to 14% alchol.

Distilled drinks have 70% alcohol content.

So drinking a few glasses of spirits will knock you harder than the same amount of beer or wine.

Red wine is known to be beneficial and aids certain conditions such as cholosteral, hypertension and heart attacks if it is used in moderation.

The French have one of the lowest occurances of these illnesses as they usally drink Red wine with their evening meal.

Wine has the properties to cause your "Happy State" - but too much of it will cause the same effect as drinking spirits.

  2. Yes:

There is more to drinks than just the alcohol.

Wine has a number of organic compoounds in it that also change your body with the alcohol. You might also note that the speed by which you drink (sipping wine vs guzzling beer) has an impact in addition to your mood when drinking can affect your buzz. But you are right on the money with tequila.... I think it does that to everyone!
