Does wood create alot of emissions when burned??

Question

I like to use the Sauna every day and I'm thinking of buying a wood-powered sauna heater. Does this create a lot of emissions? Should I just go with an electric one? I want a wood one because i like the view of the fire heating up the heater rocks.

Then do what you want a wood one would be the best !

The electric, one using so much more then you even know like water,coal etc,

stay with the wood as long as it comes from DEAD trees

and also it smells better ?

If you use electricity, your utility company will have to burn a fossil fuel.  It is more efficient  and probably less polluting for you to use the wood.

For your question my answer is YES.

Now the alternatives, electricity for heating, as such is by and large emission free but, for the process of generating electricity the attended activities have sub-processes which create or add to heavy emissions.

If you are conscious about emission levels and wish to contribute in reducing these levels, the best course is to reduce wasteful use of energy in homes, office, transport, industry etc. The luxury of viewing fire is to be given up certainly.

well, burning wood dosent create emissions. The trees take in the carbon dioxide. and if you are cutting trees is really bad. please stop.

Hey listen, ANYTHING burned causes emissions... even wood! Just don't get the term confused with auto emissions like some of the people who have answered. Also, the type and severity of wood burning emissions depends of the material used to combust the wood.... The combustion material will give off it's own emissions in addition. So, to be green in your choice of wood or electric heating of your sauna, you can opt to burn wood chips instead. They are cheaper to aquire, don't cause you to chop down any more trees, and are easy to combust. The surprising thing about wood chip or compressed wood chip logs is that they can produce just as much heat as regular cord wood!
