  1. Sales, cashier, customer service, merchant, shop keeper

You can write down a family owned business.  You can say your family owned an small antique store instead of a stand at a flea market.  You could put down that you didn't earn a wage since you were part of the family and you all worked together or you could put down minimum wage at the time. Make sure you let your parents know you used them as a reference so they can vouch for you in case they do a reference check.

I think this is really great, especially since you've done it for many years.  There is no reason to be embarrassed by it.  When I review job applications, the first thing I notice is how long someone has been on a job.  I don't want to put all my energy into training someone only to have them be a job hopper. You should have no problems. Good Luck!

  2. Of course you could use this as experience. You could say that you were a cashier. I suppose you could just put for a wage whatever you want. Just what you think all of the things provided to you from your family is worth. A reference could be anybody you know.

  3. yes it's experience. you just state in a cover letter that you worked for a family business and cant wait to take your hard work to another company.

  4. Yes, i would think so.

  5. That is a business, and don’t include that it was at a flea market.  Make sure to say what you did and it seems like it was sales.  Talk to your parents and agree on a wage that you were paid and what you did there.  But, YES – that is def experience!  It is all about how you sell it, and you have to sell yourself to get ahead.

  6. Any kind of labor an be used as experience.

You just need to specify, for example, I would say any kind of job where you sell could be put under retail.

The rate of pay should be minimum wage as you are working at a flea market but as you gain more experience you can add more.

Another thing: in a resume you can add that you are responsible and dependable because this type of thing does require a certain commitment.

As for references, if you really have no other, use your parents.

  7. Only if you are a flea

  8. a job is a job, whether it's family or not...

all works is used...put your father/mother or whoever owns the 'business' as a reference...and min wage is fine..job tile would be sales person.

  9. yeahhh anything is good

  10. It's absolutely work experience.  Use one of your parents as the reference.  Leave the pay rate blank.
