Does writing a publication about someone and putting them in a public billboard break a law?

Is it illegal to write somthing about someone in a paper then put it on like a post office bullitin board?

  1. Only if you make accusations that you cannot prove.  Also you can be held accountable for whatever you post.  In other words, you can be sued if you lie about someone.  If that someone gets hurt or harmed because of what you wrote then, you could even go to jail.  Be careful.


  2. An important note: what you can get away with saying about a public figure like a candidate for President (that's about as a public a figure as there is) is very different from what you can get away with saying about someone who's not a public figure.

    Put up a billboard that says Hillary Clinton is fat, and you just look like an idiot. Put up a billboard that says [Your Ex-Girlfriend's Name Here] is fat, and you're in a whole 'nother situation.
