  1. No.  The only thing that builds your credit history is borrowed money otherwise known as credit and since writing a check is from your own money it is not considered credit and is therefore not going to help you build credit

  2. And now, the REAL answer...

    It would depend.

Just writing a check itself doesn't help build your credit, but WHO you write them to does, to an extent.

    Here are some examples.

If you write a check for:

    1. Mortgage

    2. Car loans

    3. Credit card bills

    4. Utility bills

    5. Personal loans

Or ANY kinds of loans, or accounts, it can build credit because you're keeping a good payment history by doing so.

  3. No. The only thing that builds a credit score is borrowing money and making payments on time. The only way to keep a high score is to keep borrowing money and keep making payments on time. It will bring you nothing but debt.

You don't need a credit score to make it in todays world.

Debt free is the way to live.

  4. The only thing that builds your credit score is to borrow money and make timely payments.  Most credit card companies, banks and credit unions report to the 3 credit bureaus. You are not borrowing money when you write check.
