I believe, but you should research further as I dont want to give false information.  you can pet any animal without making ur wudu invalid. Except if the nose of a dog touches u. Or if it touches your clothes or area u will pray in change ur clothes and keep the dog away from the area.

You are not allowed to pet any animals that eat meat - carnivores .

like dogs etc. their saliva shouldn't touch you too.
