Does x < y mean x is smaller than y or y is smaller than x?

Y is bigger because think of it this way: &gt; is a crocodiles mouth, the big part which is kinda open is the mouth (the croco wants to eat the bigger fish) and the numbers are the fish. i know it sounds weird but you&#039;ll remember it! Good luck! :)

X is smaller. just remember it this way. &lt;&#039;s always want to eat they bigger number. 1&lt;2, 2&gt;1. if there is a line under the that means it can aslo be equal to like at least or no more than.

&gt; means Greater Than (Larger)

x is less than y.  One way to remember is to think ot the &lt;, or &gt; , as a mouth.  The point is a closed mouth, the other side is an open mouth; you can put a greater amount of food in an open mouth, so the symbol at the point is less, or smaller.
