    it should help. im doing pilates to help with a back injury and its making me swim faster, so it should help you skate faster

  4. I just fail to see how it will make you faster.  Unless you're working the fast twitch muscles in your legs, your speed won't improve.   It will make you have better balance, yes, but not faster.

  5. yoga would probably be more beneficial for a goalie then trying to skate faster.

  6. Most probably.  It gives you more flexibility and agility.  Besides, yoga can't hurt your skating.

  7. Skate faster? yes, if you do the right exercises. You need to do ones for building strength in the balance muscles in your legs. However, it's probalby going to help more if you learn better technique  by working with a coach.

  10. Yoga and Pilates address your flexibility and core strength.  These are essential in any sport.

    I teach Pilates, and that would be my preference - don't be put off by the 'girly' image it has - an experienced teacher can kick your butt.  It begins with the deepest abdominal muscles to build stability, and all the exercises work this strength.

    Word of caution - go to a good, well qualified teacher - results are faster and safer with a teacher's eye on you, and will far exceed any benefit you might get from working from videos!  That goes for Yoga too, if you prefer it.
