  1. Hi there, as far as I am aware no council recycles carrier bag. Although some supermarkets will, such as sainsbury's and tesco's.

The 'short life' bags may degrade but they are not bio-degradable so although they break down they leech toxins into the soil and there is still the massive emissions made while creating the bags, why not opt out of plastic completely and go for cotton instead?

You can go that one step further and recycle your old pillowcases and make your own.

  2. If you don't use them you don't have to worry about it!

My grocery has big bins outside the doors to place plastic bags in for recycling.

  3. Well if your go the Kohls they usually have a bin for plastic bags...

  4. In Canada we recycle everything. One stop convenience. They take everything from glass and plastic bottles to plastic bags.Council has nothing to do with it.I believe it is a private company. We also have the bags that are recyclable but not all stores carry them. The bigger stores carry cloth bags that you can buy from them and there really cheap a dollar will buy you a large cloth bag.I think the whole world should be following our lead.♥

  6. Hi,

I am in Shropshire and our council don't recycle plastic carrier bags.  They only recycle type1 and type 2 plastics which does not include carrier bags.

If you shop at Sainsburys you can take your carrier bags back and they will recycle them.  Don't know if other supermarkets have the same scheme?

  7. No, which is strange as they recycle all other types of plastic.
