I keep thinking I'm too young to be old, and it seems the opposite is closer to the truth.

  1. yes, absolutely, the older you get the wiser.. You have way different expectations of people and life and you take it way more seriously than when you were young. The young and carefree days are nice too, don't get me wrong.. they just don't last.

  2. You are only as old as you feel. Believe me, I know plenty of 50 year olds, that think they are 20. lol :) But your views and beliefs change as you get older. So, the saying of getting better with age, I think is true.

  3. Yes it does ... at 56 I hope I've gained a little knowledge and experience . ... this knowledge has changed my perception of things over time.

  4. Yes. I am 43, and I do have to admit that I think that a good share of the teenagers in the media are idiots. The TV shows they watch, the lack of basic common sense, the moral pulse, the music is okay, the clothes are styleless, and tattoos absolutely disgust me.

That is definitely because of my age. I find myself talking about the 70's and 80's like we were golden children! I was raised by conservative Republican hippie enviornmentalist alcoholic parents, so its kinda hard to say I fell into one group or another. I talked on the phone for hours each night in valley girl speak to the kids I spent all day at school with, thought Prince was totally awesome and "Knots Landing" was the best TV show on the planet. Worked my way through college and had some pretty lean years after due to the economy, but simply adored President Reagan and did a lot of civic stuff.

When I am faced with a completely dumb kid at a fast food restaurant who cannot figure change or how to make hot tea, I get very nostalgic for the old days. So yes, I feel like my age is making me a little frustrated and sad for the kids of today.

I have always felt respect for elders, and that has grown some with time. As my parents age, and we see how they have gone from really active, engaged, high status buyers and living the high life, and now they are ignored, treated with disrespect, and considered "not important" in society, it frustrates me even more.

The best part is that I love being fortysomething. I loved being twentysomething and thirtysomething too, but this is the best stage yet. Most comfortable, best standard of living, the life I chose and worked for, and I wouldn't want to go back to any previous age. (Wouldn't mind the body of 23, the energy of 13, the pre-gray hair of 33, but love the wisdom and security and life of 43 the best yet!)

  5. I would say yes,i cannot conect with young people(i will be 41 in a couple more weeks Godwilling)i feel like i dont belong with ANY age group except the elderly, they seem to make the most sense.
