Does your auto insurance go up if someone on your insurance gets into an accident?

My boyfriends mom is making him get his own auto insurance because she doesn't like him driving on CA-17. Would her auto insurance, as in the insurance that it costs to cover her car, go up if he got in an accident in his car that is under his name on her insurance policy?
