  1. My avatar and name both suggest a superiority complex and delusions of grandeur:)

  2. The picture shows a side of my personality

And I am obsessed with the Golden Girls

    RIP Sophia

  3. Were do I find my avatar or my account?

  4. I just picked my avatar because I liked it but othsmaro is my middle name.

  5. I have no avatar.

I chose this name because people want to know why I block them.

  6. My avatar does have special meaning it= my picture. My name is a shortened version of my real name and the abbreviation of my last name.

  7. I picked my picture for two reasons.

    1) I absolutely love musical theatre and the above two people (Idina Menzel and her husband Taye Diggs) are my absolute favorite broadway actors.

    2) It's representative of my husband and myself. He is African-American and I am Caucasian. We both love theatre and met on stage.

My name derives from my pre-pregnancy name (Just call me Shamu) but now that I've had my children some of my favorite GWS members and I decided I needed to spice it up.

I've been officially dubbed as Madame Shamu (my d********x name lol) by Kiki.

Peoples names and avatars don't generally affect me unless they are quite obviously troll accounts. Then I steer clear.

I think The Mrs. has a name and avatar that represents her well. She seems like a strong woman and she's all about her husband and creating a strong family.

  8. Chose it just as a way to describe me and the way I look

    Depends... usually not

Mine :) Also, Proud Stepford Wife's is clearly explains a part of her life

  9. I chose my name because I am a retired paramedic and I am a woman who knows a lot about health and medicine. I chose my avatar because you never really know who saves a life, the person who picks you up in an ambulance and gets you stable to go to the hospital or the hospital staff and doctors. Without an ambulance with trained EMT's and Paramedics on it a person could die before getting to the hospital. I don't pay much attention to others names & avatars. I don't know whose avatar represents a person the best. Only the person who has the avatar would know the answer to this question.

  10. My avatar actually looks quite like me, although i couldnt find my glasses in the list. My name is something i believe we are coming ever-closer to, something right out of a George Orwell novel.

Yes, occasionally ill admit i am swayed by some people's avatars and names, but not if its just a plain name or something indiscreet.

I couldnt say who's avatar represents them best, but Shark had a pretty obvious one.

  11. i like being a hamster. and my name well......yeah it kind of suits me.

other peoples names and avatars do affect how i view them. especially the cute lady avatars (such as yours, lol).

im not sure whose represents them the best. i'm gonna have to think about the one.

  12. I love finding avatars and I use the ones I find that reflect something about me.  My name means that I love mystery stories.

Sometimes the names and avatars do bother me and give me a preconceived idea of the person.  I am not always right though.

Oh sorry, did not see all the question.  I really do not know about other people.  I love Molly's avatar and I think maybe Furry Guys is kind of like he is.  Sorry I do not know you all better.

  13. yes...  my avatar name stands for women i like an admire...  like anna nicole smith...  she showed the real success women can reach when they lern to use there talents....  she started out poor an uneducated an had nothing going for her but her good looks...  she started out alot like me...  but she used the beauty god gave her to become one of the richest women around...  that makes her a real insperation to women today...

an my avatar shows my support for womens rights...  an by that i mean womens rights shud be for WOMEN!!!   i think womens rights means making things better for WOMEN.... an doing wats best for WOMEN...

i wont menton other ppls avatars here cuz its aganst yahoos rules...  but i think most ppl here choose fiting avatars....

oh...  an a frend helped me with my avatar picture....  im told it looks jus like me...

  14. My avatar and screen name come from an old logo the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) used to use.  He got retired in 2003 because a bunch of overly sensitive politically correct people threw a hissy fit thinking that Colonel Reb was a sign of the racist past of Mississippi.  In reality he's just supposed to be a Southern gentleman, which doesn't necessarily mean he's a racist, but oh well.

Forgot the other parts of your question.  Sometimes a person's avatar and name are chosen specifically to make you think something about them, so in that case that does influence my thinking.

As for others' avatars, I guess people with their own picture up are pretty well represented.

Crouching Doggie, Ole Miss will be back soon.  They have a real coach now in Houston Nutt.  They might even be up to the level of Texas when they meet in Oxford in a few years.  Lord knows they're overdue for some success.

  15. Name: It isn't my nickname at all, I just think it's a cute one. My last name does start with "R", though.

Avatar: Doesn't look like me. Hey, it's anonymous, so I have fun with it!

Other answerer's avatar: I think Open Minded Unitarian's is pretty straight forward.

  16. My avatar looks nothing like me. Well, I'm told that I have large eyes, but that's it. I have really long, straight, brown hair, so yeah, quite different to my avatar. My avatar has no special meaning, it was just fun to make.

I chose TreeHugger has a name because I've been called it a lot (I'm a vegetarian who is passionate about the environment) and I couldn't think of anything else.

  17. yeah.  my avatar was my nickname in high school.  everyone called me flouride because of my big smile showing my teeth.  it's funny now that i think of it.

my avatar sort of looks like me.  my hair's a bit lighter, my face a little thinner.  otherwise it's not too bad a match.

Gold Digger:  you sure picked the right avatar.  your name fits you to a T.   i know your type.  your the sort of chick that always went for the 'bad boys' who treated you like sh|t and cheated on you.  so now you hate men because of it.

your not interested in equal rights.  you're just out to get back at men for how they treated you.  feminism to you means using the law to take advantage of dudes and stealing everything you can get from them.  and you're probably the stupidest of all the feminists posting here too.

and you're so in love with yourself.  you're always saying how great looking you are.  so then why are you alone?  you go around dressed like a s***k just so you can b|tch at dudes when they show you attention.  you're sick.  go see a shrink.

  18. Avatar: It looks like me.

Name: No particular meaning, just the code name I thought up when my friends were creating them for themselves.

  19. I picked my avatar because I think she looks beautiful, graceful and gentle. My name is...well, it's my name. lol

I think that some avatars and names leave strong impressions, but they don't change my opinion of the contributors.

I don't know most people on here well enough to say whose avatar suits them best, but I kind of like Furry Guy's.  I bet in person he is cute and cuddly. ;)

  20. Mine is two-fold...

First, I served in the Marine Corps from 1990-1994 and we are often called "Leathernecks"*

Second, it is an obvious homage to my intricacies and interests...

*United States Marines have called themselves "leathernecks." since the days of the Barbary pirates. Legend and lore have it that the term leatherneck was derived from leather neckbands worn in the late 1700s to protect Marines from the slash of the cutlass. Another more likely reason is that the high stocks were worn for discipline to keep the Marines' heads high and straight. Neither explanation has ever been verified. Whatever the reason, the name leatherneck stuck and the distinctive dress blue uniform blouse still bears a high stock collar to remind Marines of the leatherneck legacy.

I like to look at people's avatars that are not the Yahoo version just to see what different types of creativity there is out there but I generally don't let the persons name/avatar effect my view on them.  That is unless it is vulgar or insulting.

  21. I chose my avatar because it's my best angle (I don't like to have my picture taken from my left side as it makes my chin stick out).

My mom gave me my name.

MB's not telling you the truth, I've analyzed her Avatar and it's a moth, and I'm certain of it.  She may tell you otherwise, but don't listen, MB's always talkin' silly business.

It's a moth, and I have definitive evidence of this, despite all her rhetoric I know the truth.

Now Reb has a cool Av & I'm quite fond of the dude, but he fails to realise that U. Texas @ Austin is a Dynasty, and moreover has no respect for the Big 12, but oherwise he and I agree on most things (he's just misguided about who the finest NCAA Div. 1 Football team is), but frankly there's no scientific basis for me to assert that I'm right and he's wrong (even though I know I'm right).  I mean, seriously Mack Brown, Vince Young (should've gotten the 2005 Heissman) but they gave it to (wayyy over-rated Reggie Bush who isn't worth squat).

But otherwise Reb & I are cool, but when it comes to real matters of critical importance, i.e. Football, that's when things get very tense between us.  Reb seems to forget what we achieved in 2005, i.e.:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BXLsl-3Y...

NB:  I'll be the first to admit that the SEC dominates and yeah, Big 12 is a joke compared to theh SEC, but all things considered you figure, there's like what only 25 scholarships our boys can get and the rest go to Oklahoma or SEC teams.  But let's be clear on this:  Texas is Football Country.  This is a statement of fact.  All we do is generate Football powerhouses for the rest of the country to exploit.  If Reb tells you otherwise, he's not being honest.  This is a highly controversial bone of contention b/wn Reb & Myself (but trust me, I'm right and he's misguided, but despite our differences in matters of international importance we still happen to get along pretty well).

    ;-)

And if my answer is regarded as an egregious offence to Community Moderators, then there's an utter paucity of humour amongst people.

  22. My avatar is my favorite females (Marisa Miller, Susan Ward, Petra Nemcova, and Carolina Ardohain) and sports teams. My name is my first name.

  23. My pic is my cute little bunny! My name is what people around me call me. When I had a photo of myself as my avatar I received a  lot of bad feedback for it.

  24. It's the name I actually go by in real life.  I didn't know people made up names for avatars until I was a participant here, having not had much socialization experience on the Internet until then.  I wish I could have had another made-up name, something like "Moss" maybe or "Corn Snow".  I seldom notice the names of other participants for months until I take the time to pay attention to that detail in my understanding of them, except, of course, with my friends.  Sometimes a participant's avatar name is related to his or her question, like, "Why can't I get a date?" asked by, say, "Lonely".  I try to notice that connection in order to better respond to the question.  But, I have trouble seeing the small stuff.  Other people on my end LOVE the avatars and names and they speak all the time of everyone here as though they are collecting baseball cards with these avatars.  I can't easily abstract other participants into avatar caricatures, though.  I always sense the real person and try hard to keep up with them as they morph into other names.  I have noticed that when people morph their avatars, they tend also to morph a little in the tone of their postings to match the new persona.  Whether that's role playing and intentional or the new avatar provokes a true change in behavior I don't have a clue but that would be fascinating to know.  My avatar looks just like I do in real life except I carry a huge magnifying glass everywhere with me.  : )
