Question:

Does your baby have a bigger/better wardrobe than you?

My daughter is 10 months and she has sooooo many clothes! I just can't resist the lovely little outfits you can get and my MIL is just as bad. Yesterday I went out to get my partner's birthday present and ended up buying Lottie a winter coat, a pair of trousers with Bambi on them and a summer dress for next year. My MIL also bought her a skirt. I didn't get anything for my partner at all! At this rate she will have to average about 3 costume changes per day just to wear all her clothes. In contrast to this, I can't remember the last time I bought myself anything other than practical stuff like socks or undies. It's just not as much fun buying stuff for myself! Does anyone else do this and how do you feel about your child being better dressed than you are?

  1. Oh yes! I have two boys and they have about 10 x times as many clothes as me and my partner put together! I am 9 weeks pregnant and honestly - if it is a girl she will be just as bad if not worse!

It really doesnt bother me in the slightest! It is nice that the boys are happy with what they wear and have plenty of options.

  2. Infinitely - both of them!! My wardrobe hasnt changed in about 2 years but I can't resist the little outfits either - especially dungarees!!

  3. my son does have a lot more choice than me but i always buy him really comfortable clothes and buy myself rather uncomfortable things (tight jeans, heels... you know the usualy things). he also gets lots of brand clothes from relatives and friends and i simply don't bother with the brands as long as the clothes look nice on me. he's got timberland, tommy hilfiger, polo sport... and i shop in H&M most of the time. so yes i'd def. say he's got a better wardrobe than me. wouldn't it be great to be able to wear really comfortable things and people still telling you you look cute?! imagine that...

  4. Yup, she is so easy to buy for and i find it SOOOOOOOO hard to walk past an adorable outfit when it's on special!!

  5. My wardrobe isn't really anything to shake a stick at.

But no, up until they're walking my babies pretty much live in sleepers and rompers.  Jeans, socks, button shirts, you name it are a waste of time and look completely uncomfortable on a baby.

  6. Yes absolutely, I am constantly buying my son clothes...that he gets to wear a total of 2 times before he grows out of them!! He has way more clothes than me if you include all the ones he still has to grow into, I love that my son is well dressed (thanks to me :) ) I think it is a reflection of me..and I am pretty well dressed too...ha sometimes! I swear everytime I even attempt to look good I get puked on...

  7. Yes most definitely! My daughter's wardrobe is huge compared to mine! I love it too that she has lots of different outfits, however I have learnt as she has got older that it can be a waste of money, as she just doesn't get to wear everything!

  8. I dont mind it but yeas my daughter has a way better wardrobe than me and mine is only 4 months old...

  9. Yes! My 9 week old girl has hundreds of beautiful outfits - mostly gifts from people who can't resist buying girl clothes!

I'm still wearing last years stuff, I can't afford to buy new stuff for me but I somehow find the money to buy her more clothes, not that she needs them.

I don't mind that she's better dressed than me, she's also cuter than me!

Today she is wearing a white organic cotton long sleeve shirt and cream linen trousers, I'm wearing a white top and cream cords - we like to co-ordinate!

  10. Oh God yes!  My son has more clothes in 10 months than I've ever had.  Between mom and dad, grandmas, aunties, friends, this kid will be stylin until he is 50 years old.  And it never stops!  I swear my mother, MIL, and sister buy him new clothes every week.

And everyone said it wasn't as much fun to buy "boy" clothes.......

  11. I am totally in the same boat!  My 13 month son has got winter coats, casual jackets, autumn jackets, a rain mac, hoodie jackets etc and I have one coat which has to do me for all weathers, and it has holes in it!!  You just can't resist, I know exactly what you mean!!  Clothes shopping for him is so much more fun than for me!!  I look forward to dressing him each morning but just throw my clothes on any old how!!  As long as he looks good I don't care!!

  12. I totally agree!! I cant resist the little clothes for my little ones, especially at Pumpkin Patch. I walk in there and come out a few bags heavier, and lots of dollars less! I rarely buy anything for myself, but kids grow quick, get messy, tear clothes, so I feel they need many more then me. Well that's my excuse and I am going to stick with it :)

  13. I think my 10 week old daughter has more clothes right now, than I have ever had in my entire life.

My husband's brother has 4 kids all under the age of 4, so we get the hand me downs. Before she was even born, I had 137 hangers in her closet, all with clothes hanging on them, and that's just 0-3 months.

I had a baby shower, and that added to the pile. I have plastic bins FULL of baby clothing!! I very much doubt that she'll even wear half of it, because we usually cycle through the same maybe 10 outfits.

I do agree though, you can't resist cute outfits, and hey, if it's on sale and you can buy it for the next year, I'd totally do it!

  14. My daughter is definitely better dressed than I am and I wouldn't have it any other way.  Growing up I lived in hand me downs so I made sure that when my husband and I decided to start a family that we were financially able to provide her with the very best of everything.  I shop CONSTANTLY for her!!  I walk into target to buy a mop head refill and darn it if I don't walk out with a bag full of jammies and dresses.  I go into Babysrus for diapers and of course I go nuts on the Koala Kid...I can't help it.  I love that my husband and I can provide her with not only her needs but nice things too.  I have slowed down recently because she is growing too fast.  I know winter is coming and we don't have a lot of warm clothes for her 6-9 months...so I'll be shopping again very soon!!

  15. I'm just the same way. Whenever i go out i cannot resist buying my son something be it clothes or toys or shoes. It has gotten so bad that i am having to buy clothes in the next size up as i know he will not wear all the clothes in his current size as it is. Add on to this that my mother and aunt buy him clothes often and he also gets second hand clothes from my aunt (she looks after a little boy) and i have so many clothes for my son i barely have the space to store them all.

I in contrast am lucky if i buy myself one item of clothing (normally from the sales) a month.

I think the reason i am this way is because when i was young i didn't get brought new clothes apart from the bare essentials so now i can't help but buy my baby boy all the clothes and toys i can afford for him.

After all, it's only natural to want your child to have the best you can give them.

  16. well i dont have a baby but seriously my 4 week old nephew has about 20 pairs of shoes i don't even own that much lol
