I have now nicknamed my 10 month old daughter Frank Bruno as I seem to be constantly covered in bruises! At the moment, I have two long scratches on my neck from sharp little nails, a cut lip from when she turned her head suddenly when I was holding her and a headache from her trying to pull my hair out! Basically, I look like I've been beaten up, lol! I knew childbirth would hurt but I didn't realise the pain would carry on this long!!!!!!

  1. I love this question!!! I was just thinking the same thing last night! Ian (11 months) was bouncing on my lap after dinner and I noticed I have bruises on the top of my thighs from it!!! I've got scratches from his nails and bite marks from his nursing!! It's terrible!! I try to think of them as war memorabilia!!

  2. My 7 month old is a pincher.  I have all these tiny bruises on my arms!  He also likes to grab skin where there is none, like on my neck--ouch!  He gave me a hickey doing that once (how embarrassing!)

I tell him firmly no, but he doesn't really get it.

By the way--I love your daughter's nickname!!

*forgot to mention the time he turned his head really fast & nailed my jaw so hard that it clicked the rest of the day---oooowwwwww!!!  lol

  3. HAHA I know how you feel!! My little man will rip my face off if I let him, he will look so cute and cuddly and then you get close....and he lunges for your lips and grabs and pulls LOL ANd if he gets my hair, forget it!

He's sooo cute though, you just want to kiss him, and then......LOL

And I think he's going to be a riverdancer the way he kicks his legs!! Loves kicking me!! Now I turn over and get a little back massage LOL

  4. You should start reinforcing and saying "no" firmly when she's being rough and aggressive. It's not too early to start her on what's a good touch vs. a bad touch.

  5. LOL! And just think, the pain is just beginning. You still have pre-teens, teens, and college...plus all the little things in-between!

  6. my daughter is 6 months and she loves to swing her arms and kick her legs, she punched me in the eye yesterday and it really hurt and she constantly kicks me, she only does it though when shes excited!she also likes to grab my face and she drags her nails down my face, im scratched all over lol!she also likes to stick her hand in my mouth and grabs the inside which really hurts, she has such a tight grip that its hard to get her hand out, i didnt realise that i would be getting beat up by my baby lol

  7. YES!!! I thought I was the only one. I flew with my son the other day and didn't realize how brutal he had been until looking in the mirror at the airport. My arms are covered with bruises and my face was all scratched up. I know some are from him biting and I assume I got some from him walking all over me too.

  8. that's funny, my daughter is 11 months old.  her favorite game these days seems to be "what can I do to make Mommy say Ow!"  And she thinks it is hillarious to see me yell "ow!".  I think it's the reaction that she loves, so I try to hold it in and ignore her when she does those kinds of things and that seems to work sometimes.  She'll pinch me, pull my hair.  Most of the time she pinches though.  If you could see how she cracks up every time I yell "Ow!".  it is the funnies thing.  Just try and keep her nails clipped short and file them as well.  That usually helps.  and pull your hair back into a bun that way she can't pull it.  hopefully the Mommy Torture game will end soon for the both of us!  lol

  9. My little boy is only 4 months old but he is constantly head-butting me. I will pick him up to move him from room to room and all of a sudden i will feel an almighty 'whack' as he head-butts my chin.

He also is in the habit of scratching me, gumming on my arm and fingers (i'm so glad he hasn't got any teeth yet cos he clomps his little jaws down hard) and pulling my hair  i had to have it cornrowed and then tie it in a bun so he can't find any hair to pull.

I also remember in the early weeks after i had my c-section he would constantly kick me in the incision site and he still does kick my stomach quite frequently.

  10. LOL, I was thinking the same thing last night!

My son was laying on my belly last night and we were making faces at each other and the next thing I know he gets all excited and gets his feet going and starts attempting to crawl up my stomach.... Man, those toes hurt my stomach, lol.  They should be considered weapons of mass destruction or something, HA!

  11. LOL... My second child is now 9 months and he is the exact same way.  He loves to gouge at my face and pull hair and pinch.  He recently started biting.  If we use a firm tone and say NO or BE NICE it seems that it makes him want to do it more.  And he laughs if you say OW or STOP IT.  My first child (boy) was not like this at all.  Sure he would pull hair or scratch.  But he would always stop if he was told NO.  It seems like my 9 month old has a real sick sense of humor....LOL.  However he is still too young to punish so I am hoping it is just a phase or a stage that he is going through.

  12. I can sympathise!  I've just started wearing contact lenses because of my 11 month olds obsession with pulling off my glasses, but now instead she 'lovingly' strokes my eyelashes and pokes me in the eye whenever I nurse her!  That's if she's not busy yanking my hair or ears, or charmingly sticking her fingers up my nose...not to mention making lumps appear on my shoulders from biting them when she got excited!

  13. I feel your pain. My son's new favorite game is for me to lay on the floor and for him to crawl all over me. I have also gotten a couple of sore lips from him headbutting me.

  14. My daughter is 8 weeks & she's like that too. With her, it seems to be more of her banging her head into me even though I try to keep my hand hear her head & neck to keep it from wobbling (She's been able to keep her head up steadily by herself for a few weeks). Last week she threw her head into my nose & the other day she did it to my jaw. It doesn't even seem to phase her though. I can't imagine what it will be like when she's older haha. Everyone keeps telling me how alert & strong she is.
