Does your city have unique slang/attributes?

I live in Thunder Bay and we have the following ones I haven't seen in other places:

Shag - a party that a bride and groom put on before thier wedding to raise money for it. To go to one, you buy a ticket ($2 in advance, $3 at the door), drinks are only 2.50, you get free food (usually pizza, beef on a bun or lunch meat), there's tons of prizes you can buy tickets for (tv's, trips, bbq's etc). Plus free cab rides home

Persian - A tasty treat similar to a cinnamon bun but with pink icing and sooo addicting.

We also have the largest Finnish population outside of Finland.

  1. Canada? If so, we live close to eachother

    I'm from Duluth and um we have a lot of quirks I guess that come with a Minnesotan accent...but I don't exactly remember! such as duck duck grey duck? or spendy instead of expensive. Hotdish instead of casserole. lol i don't know.....

    got a lot of Germans here? lol some Ojibwe indians. stuff like dat. IDK


  2. In Michigan we call Soda (or Cola), pop instead.

    i'm pretty sure the other states don't do that lol.

    lame...oh well :]
