sainsburys is developing milk in a bag, which is type 4 LDPE plastic. they claim most councils will recycle this, but having asked my council they said that they don't, and as far as they know no council in the country is able to either

does yours? (i'm assuming that sainsburys is lying...)

  1. sainsbury's is exaggerating.

It can be taken buy about 40% of Councils as it is turned into street furniture. However facilities in the U.K. are limited and not every council feels their plastics should be transported over 150 miles  (hear that Oxford?)

  2. Supermarkets are the main recyclers of plastic bags, and some councils do now recycle the harder stuff (hdpe). You'll have to look out for bag collection points in asda, sainsburies, somerfield and morrisons, who do have facilities in-store.

but councils hardly ever provide sufficient green services, especially for plastics.
